A silicone rubber is a rubber like polymer that is prepared from certain
silicones. It is much in use as it maintains its elasticity and
electrical properties over a wide range of temperatures and is widely
used in sealants, gaskets, insulation, tapes etc.
The use of silicone rubber provides resilience, high temperature
stability and general inertness unavailable in any other elastomer.
Silicones are not affected by exposure to temperatures from 100°F
to 500°F, and are also not affected by aging and degradation from
sunlight and ozone.
Because of all these characteristics, silicone rubber pad is used in
various industries and diverse product categories like :
- Electronics and appliances
- Computer accessories
- Communication parts
- Calculators
- Switches
- Micro-measurement equipment
- Auto parts
- Water pumps
In order to manufacture and process synthetic silicone rubber
pads, a large variety of molding presses is available in the market.
A few of the features of a good silicone rubber pad molding press
are:
- Semi or fully automatic option available
- Temperature and pressure controlled (by PLC)
- Safety features
- Platen parallelism accuracy is also high (for eg between 0.05 to
0.09 mm)
A precision molded silicone rubber pad offers great potential for
the automotive industry, where it can be used for all kinds of switches
- on steering wheels, doors, windows and seats. These can be HTV
silicone rubber (high tear resistant), extrusion HTV silicone rubber,
HTV silicone rubber (heat resistant) etc.
Apart from the standard models, customer's technical specifications &
their requirements are also accommodated in presses design to offer
maximum advantages to the end users.
