India is the world's largest manufacturer of reclaim rubber and India
and China are the only two countries in the world which have the
capacity to consume the entire indigenous production of natural rubber.
Reclaim rubber is a unique product that is recycled out of Scrap Rubber
such as worn out tyres & tread peelings.
Re-cycling, reclaimation or regeneration of rubber waste (generated
from used tyres, auto-mobile inner tubes etc.) for re-application in
further usage plays a significant role in reducing pollution.
Good quality reclaimed rubber is useful as process aid material and as
a distinctive raw material in itself. Various types of machineries are
used for processing reclaim rubber. Some of them are: cracker, grinding
mill, refiner etc. Rotary autoclaves are amongst the most important
machines that are used in the reclaimation process.
The finished product is mainly in the form of sheets having desired
thickness, length & breadth. The reclaim rubber manufacturing
machines can be made as per the customer's specifications and within
reasonable lead times.
A few of the advantage of Reclaim Rubber are:
- Excellent aging properties
- Minimum reversion
- Reduced compound cost
- Shorter breakdown in mixing time
- Reduced power consumption
- Lower processing temperature
- Fast and uniform processing
- Improved dimensional stability
Some types of whole tyre reclaimed rubber, depending on the
number of times straining is done:
- Superfine Grade - Widely used in truck tyres, tread rubber,
rubber molded products.
- Medium Grade - Mostly used in auto tyres, rubber mats and rubber
molded goods.
- Coarse Grade - Commonly used in rubber belting, rubber sheet,
tyre flaps, floor/ coir mat.
Stages of Reclaimation:
- Careful selection of raw materials.
- Removal of all ferrous metal and non-ferrous contaminant.
- Cleaning, cutting and grounding of material to very fine powder.
- Depolymerisation of the powdered rubber under controlled
conditions of temperature and steam pressure.
This depolymerisation process is carried out in the rotary
autoclaves that are aided with suitable process oils. The powder is then
strained and finally refined to silky-smooth leaves, which are built up
into sheets for ease of handling. The end-product is then rigorously
tested before approval for dispatch.
