Replacing tapes, strings or expensive as well as inflexible shrink film
equipment. Strapping Machines are currently much in used in industrial
packaging and fall under the category of secondary packaging material.
Strapping machines are also called banding machines and are used to
strap or band product.
Plastic strapping machines cover manual, semi-automatic and automatic
machines. While semi automatic are used for low and medium volume
applications, automatic strapping machines find their utility for
general packaging purposes requiring lower to medium product
throughputs. These machines are operator controlled and are ideal for
strapping products like boxes, containers and cartons.
Plastic Strapping machines are used for applications in banking,
financial institutions, commercial printing, in-house printing and
other areas that require bundling and tying. High-strength polyester is
amongst the ideal substitutes for steel strapping. High-Strength Tenax
provides the user with the strength properties of steel and the
performance advantages of plastic. This development which has
revolutionized the packaging, especially construction strapping
applications, improves load integrity, load appearance and operator
safety.
A few of the common features that are considered while buying a
plastic strapping machine :
- Max Package Weight
- Max Package Size
- Min Package Size
- Strap widths
- Tension range
- Access to strapping mechanism (for maintenance, cleaning or
tension adjustment)
- Speed transmission
- Arch size
- Operator safety
- Ease of tension change
- Portability
Polypropylene strapping is the most commonly used and least expensive
of all strapping materials. It is light and easy to apply and recycle.
Other characteristics include high elongation and recovery, but low
retained tension. Polypropylene strapping is an excellent choice for
light duty palletizing, unitizing, carton closing, and bundling. It is
used in all semi-automatic strappers and nearly all stand alone arch
machines.
Polypropylene strapping is available in both manual and machine grade
and can be sealed with buckles, seals, heat seals or friction welds.
